NCOD works closely with deaf and hard of hearing students using their preferred mode of communication - sign language communication, speech-to-text captioning, and notetaking. Students are encouraged to meet with an academic advisor to learn about university procedures and general education requirements. NCOD also provides workshops to new students explaining the calculation of academic status, ways to improve study habits and time management. Direct, frequent advisement leads students to appropriate enrollment and earlier graduation.
Early registration information and timeline
NCOD offers early registration for deaf and hard of hearing students only.
Verify: Check and verify your early registration status and early registration appointment through your myNorthridge Portal. If you don’t have an early registration status by November 1st, please notify your NCOD academic advisors as soon as possible.
Clear Any: If there are any “holds” on your CSUN account, you must clear them before you can register for classes.
Plan Course Schedule: We recommend you meet with your major academic advisor well in advance of your registration date to create an educational plan. Through your myNorthridge Portal, you may also find that you need academic advisement. If this is required, meet with your academic advisor through your major department to discuss your educational plan for the upcoming semester(s).
Schedule an Appointment with the NCOD Academic Advisors between October 9th - 27th. To schedule an appointment with a NCOD academic advisor, stop by the NCOD front desk or email firstname.lastname@example.org. The NCOD academic advisors will assist you by reviewing the information provided by your major advisor to meet your accommodation and services needs for your classes.
Department of Rehabilitation (DOR) Clients or Other Third Party Sponsorship and Disenrollment Protection: Please inform NCOD of your status to ensure that you receive disenrollment protection.
See if Other Deaf and Hard of Hearing Students Are in Your Classes: Why register for classes with other DHH students? You’re likely to get the best interpreters or transcribers assigned to class; it may increase the odds of having both services in class; you will benefit from peer support.
Repeated Courses: Early registration is not applicable for repeated courses. For information on repeating courses, please review the enrollment requirements.
Request Accommodations and Support Services: After you register through myNorthridge Portal, you will be able to request your accommodations such as interpreting and transcribing for your classes through the Student Access and Accommodation System (SAAS).
